  • Donald R. Fiske, B.A., LL.B., C.S.

    Don joined Pace Law Firm in April, 2008, in order to establish and head the firm’s Civil and Commercial Litigation department. The team which he has assembled addresses a variety of issues pertaining to corporate recovery, as well as civil litigation matters as varied as insolvency and tax issues, wrongful dismissal, partnership disputes, libel and slander, breach of contract, WSIB appeals, estate resolutions, and personal injury claims.

    Don graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 1975 and in March 1977, he was called to the bar in Ontario. Don established his own litigation firm in 1982 and in May 2007, he was called to the bar in British Columbia. Over the course of the next 26 years, he specialized in matters pertaining to corporate collections and complex debtor/creditor litigation, including issues involving bankruptcy and insolvency. Don also possesses many years of experience and a significant expertise addressing issues and actions involving the Construction Lien Act and construction litigation.

    Don’s roster of clients has included several multinational corporations representing the manufacturing, financial, and communications sectors. In addition, he has also acted on behalf of numerous small business owners and entrepreneurs regarding various types of civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on debtor/creditor disputes.

    Don has received his accreditation as a Certified Specialist in Civil Litigation from the Law Society of Upper Canada. With over 30 years of experience in debtor/creditor litigation, he possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience, with a record of proven success, on which he draws in offering clients his unique expertise. Don is an astute strategist who has an outstanding reputation for his ability to assess difficult commercial conflicts, and to provide his clients with creative, cost-effective, and efficient solutions. He is a firm believer in exercising due diligence to arrive at an informed and comprehensive perspective on the nature of the issues at hand, thereby allowing him to pursue practical and optimal solutions on his clients’ behalf, in a timely and forthright manner. While Don emphasizes realizing cost-effective resolution of disputes, his civil litigation expertise also includes his extensive experience and success as a trial lawyer. As such, he has appeared before all levels of Court in Ontario.

    Sandev S. Purewal, B.A. (Hons.), B.Ed., LL.B.

    Sandev Purewal is a litigation lawyer at Pace Law Firm (Toronto, Ontario). He possesses extensive knowledge of and experience in insurance, products liability, and personal injury litigation, while also having addressed a wide range of civil litigation matters involving commercial contracts, corporate recovery, wrongful dismissal, and libel and slander.

    Sandev received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Bachelor of Education degrees from York University in 1996, a Certificate in Dispute Resolution from the University of Toronto in 1998, and his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1999. While attending Osgoode Hall Law School, Sandev was also a Research Assistant to Professor D. Paul Emond in 1998, and helped to develop the Professional Development Program's Negotiation Skills Workshop.

    Sandev completed his litigation articles with Thomson, Rogers in 1999/2000, and was called to the bar of Ontario in 2001. He then joined a commercial insurance litigation law firm. In that capacity, Sandev advised on and defended claims involving property insurance (including fraud and arson) and fidelity insurance, as well as the pursuit of subrogated actions. From 2002 to 2007, Sandev was a Senior Associate to Greg Monforton, C.S., a leading litigator and past President of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association. Sandev’s practice focused on class actions, products liability, insurance and personal injury litigation.

    Sandev has published and presented several papers, in the areas of civil litigation and insurance law, at various forums to further lawyers’ continuing legal education. He is a Director of the Brain Injury Association of Peel & Halton (BIAPH), as well as being actively involved in other community activities, such as leading the "Helmets on Kids" project in Peel.

    Cameron R.B. Fiske, B.A. (Hons.), B.C.L., LL.B.

    Cameron R.B. Fiske graduated from McGill University with a First Class Honours BA in History and a minor in Political Science in 2004. He went on to complete his bachelor of civil law (B.C.L.) and bachelor of common law (LL.B.) at McGill University graduating with distinction in 2007.

    Cameron has experience in several areas of law. As a law student in Montreal, he worked at various community legal clinics by providing legal information and assistance with landlord-tenant disputes as well as general civil procedure. Additionally, he worked in a large national law firm in Montreal for two summers where he was primarily assigned to the civil litigation department before moving to Toronto to article with a large criminal law firm.

    Cameron practices general civil litigation, criminal and personal injury law. He has successfully defended clients accused of both criminal and provincial regulatory offences, and has appeared on contentious motions and discoveries in the field of personal injury. Cameron has also appeared in Divisional Court and is Counsel on an appeal for leave to the Supreme Court of Canada in a Civil Remedies case. Cameron was called to the Ontario Bar on January 28, 2009 and he is also a member of the Peel Law Association.
